PERMANENT MAKEUP FAQS

  • Permanent make-up treatment can also be used to emphasize the client’s best features or, simply, to save their time which they spend every day on a mundane task of applying makeup.

By using sterile and disposable equipment, the best quality pigments are injected under the top layer of the skin. Immediate result of the treatment is usually not so representative: in the beginning color will appear darker because of the pigment which was placed in the epidermal layer.

As the skin regenerates, this upper layer of epidermis will shed and it will be replaced with new cells. As a consequence, the pigmented area will appear brighter than it was in the first place.

  • Powder Eyebrows is a very soft and gentle semi-permanent makeup technique, which makes it perfect if you have sensitive skin and if you have previous eyebrows procedure done.

Powder eyebrows are achieved with a PMU machine without causing any harm to your natural eyebrows. This technique allows soft pixels of color to be layered onto the brows to create the perfect shape, which results in more of a ‘velvet’ soft eyebrow powder look.

Healed result looks very natural, graduating from lighter to darker shade and mimics the ‘effect’ you achieve when you use a brow powder or pencil, creating a fuller look.

  • Touch ups are highly recommended. Due to the uniqueness of each individual and the superficial nature of the tattoo itself, touch ups provide an opportunity to assess how your skin responds to the procedure.

Touch ups provide an opportunity to make any adjustments necessary while also lengthening the longevity of your tattoo. These sessions are not included in the initial price and need to be booked between 6-12 weeks from the time of your first session.

  • Generally, no. Each person has a pain threshold, but consistent application of anesthetic typically keeps clients very comfortable. If you do not respond to numbing agents, there can be some discomfort.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL FAQS

  • The Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser that we use targets ink pigment and breaks it up into smaller particles through powerful bursts of energy. The ink is then absorbed into the bloodstream and eventually expelled from the body.

  • The number of laser treatments you need depends on a couple factors:

    • Tattoo size

    • Tattoo location

    • Ink colors

    • Type of tattoo ink used

    • Age of the tattoo

    • Your skin type

Most tattoos require between four and twelve treatment sessions to completely disappear.

  • Laser tattoo removal treatment can be used for a complete removal or to lighten your ink in preparation for a cover-up tattoo. It is easier to remove certain ink types and certain ink colors (such as black inks).

With multiple sessions, most people see nearly 100% tattoo removal.

  • It is important to stay out of the sun and avoid all sorts of tanning in the weeks leading up to treatment. You should also avoid shaving, waxing, and exfoliating prior to laser treatment.

  • It is important to follow a strict aftercare plan. After treatment you’ll need to avoid sun exposure and minimize your exercise routine for several days. It’s also important to decrease alcohol consumption and drink lots of water.

Lack of water and excess alcohol can cause dehydration, which will slow down the healing process and increase your risk of getting an infection.

You’ll also need to avoid hot tubs, long baths, high water pressure, and shaving the treated area for several days.

  • During your treatment, you will be given protective eye wear which will protect your eyes from the intense laser light. The technician will use the laser to pass pulses of intense light through the top layers of your skin that will be absorbed by the tattoo pigment only.

Immediately following the treatment, an ice pack will be applied to soothe the treated area. Since skin stays intact there's no active aftercare involved, but there are some recommendations that would be given after the treatment.

Many people ask if the PicoWay treatment hurts. The laser may feel like little pinpricks to the skin. The degree of discomfort varies with each person depending on the nature and location of the pigmented lesions on the body

  • Laser tattoo removal typically does involve some level of pain. That said, many say that it hurts less than they expected.

It's a common belief that tattoo removal is excruciating, yet most patients say that the sensation of removal is comparable to having a tattoo applied. Common descriptions include the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin or bacon grease – basically it's uncomfortable but bearable.

When discussing pain with patients, it's important to share that while they may experience some level of discomfort, the pain is relatively manageable and tolerable. It may take some tough love to encourage patients concerned about sensitivity.

 Aftercare Instructions

NOTE: The outcome of permanent makeup is very individual. The better condition of a person’s skin is in, the better the final result will be. Working with dry or sun-damaged skin and lips is more difficult and the final result may vary. Clients with mature skin may need an additional one to two weeks of healing for the final results to appear.

Taking care of your skin is an everyday job. Make sure to apply good quality moisturizer and protect your skin from UV rays throughout the year. This will help to prepare your skin for the best permanent makeup outcome.

After you have had a permanent makeup procedure the aftercare part is crucial to maximizing the best possible results. After the first session, some unevenness of color is to be expected and you should not be too alarmed about it. Different skin types respond to permanent makeup differently and it is absolutely normal to have a touch-up visit after the first session.

Below we have put together common directions to follow after you have just had a permanent makeup procedure on your eyebrows, eyes or lips.

Please read them carefully and in case of any concerns, our beauticians look forward to your questions.

  1. No sweating of any kind until fully healed. Sweating will increase pigment loss and will be harmful to your healed results.

  2. Wash your hands before touching any treated area.

  3. The area will peel and flake up t0 10 days. Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR SCRATCH the treated area or your color may heal unevenly and you risk scarring and infection.

  4. No makeup is to be applied until fully healed after the procedure. After any eyeliner procedure, use new mascara. Do not use an eyelash curler for two weeks.

  5. Do not expose your healing skin to direct sun, tanning beds, hot tubs, saunas, saltwater, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams, ointments, or lotions other than what you have been instructed to use for 2 weeks following your procedure.

  6. After a lip procedure, keep your lips moist at all times. Avoid spicy foods or heat. If using herpes medication, continue as prescribed. Do not use teeth whitening products until fully healed.

  7. During the first 3 days after the treatment, do not use any type of personal creams on treated area, you can use only those recommended by your permanent makeup artist.

  8. We suggest you not consume any type of hormonal medicine during the first month after the treatment, it might affect the healing process.

  9. In case of swelling or skin irritation for more than three days after the treatment, please contact your permanent makeup artist.
